Foal Management and Foaling Services

Peacock Equine Reproduction Center offers mare owners complete foaling services from birth thru weaning for all breeds of mares. We have gone to great lengths to provide a safe and clean atmosphere for your mare.

Fully Monitored Foaling Facilities

The foaling facilities are second to none and are designed with the complete safety and comfort of visiting and resident mares and foals. We offer large, comfortable stalls and skilled foaling attendants.

Foaling mares are monitored with closed circuit TV monitors, and a foal alert system. Qualified foaling attendant(s) are available 24 hours per day to watch and assist your mare to ensure the safest foaling possible.

Colostrum Bank

We have large quantities of colostrum on hand at all times. Our colostrum bank is continually renewed so that it is fresh for each foaling season and you can rest assured that we will provide the nutrients your foal needs in those first important hours if the mare is unable to adequately provide the colostrum herself.

Foal Imprinting and Daily Handling

Newborn foals are imprinted at birth. All foals are haltered the first day and led everywhere along with the mare with two handlers to ensure their safety and build confidence. This daily handling helps to develop a safe, strong and confident foal. Grooming and feet handling becomes a natural part of your foal's daily routine.

Foaling Exams & Vaccinations

Newborn foals, and mares are all given post foaling exams done by our on site veterinarian to ensure a healthy beginning for your foal and confirm your mares well being after foaling. Peacock Equine Reproduction Center also insures your foals are vaccinated at this time.

Low Stress Weaning & Socialization

Peacock Equine Reproduction Center can also handle the weaning process to ensure that it is a low stress experience for your mare and foal. You may leave your mare and foal here from birth thru weaning or choose to bring one or both of them to our facility for weaning. You can rest assured that your mare and foal are receiving superior care during this period of adjustment.

Weanling and yearling pastures are available to our customers with the option of year round boarding and care for your mares and foals. Horses may be boarded in stalls or out on pasture, including a foal-only pasture for socialization and/or weaning. Pastures have access to shelter and waterers and horses are grained daily. Foals receive complete care including vaccinations, hoof care and grooming.
